Students
Students are assigned an e-mail address by the University of Siegen when they enrol at the ZIMT. This is activated independently via the personal unisono account. Activate your ZIMT account
Dear students, it is absolutely necessary to set up a student e-mail address!
All official correspondence from the university (from the Registrar's Office, lecturers, examination offices, service facilities, etc.) will be sent to the student e-mail address. Therefore, please always use this e-mail address for internal university communication with your lecturers or the examination offices.
It is possible to set up forwarding to your private e-mail address for university e-mails. Please note the guidelines for forwarding emails
of the Information Security and Data Protection Executive Departments. You can find the relevant form here:
Please note: If you reply to university emails using your private email address, you cannot be identified as a member of the university and your emails may not be read or answered by lecturers or university departments !

Employees can use the online user account administration
to apply for an e-mail address in addition to other services.

Additional information text for emails sent via external mail servers with a university sender address
Please note: Due to the current threat of phishing e-mails, e-mails that are delivered via external e-mail servers but have a university sender address will in future contain an additional message above the actual e-mail content. We ask you to pay particular attention to these e-mails.

E-mails from self-hosted e-mail servers or various services such as sciebo, Google Groups, kompetenzzentrum-siegen, SoSci Survey, etc. also fall under this measure, as these also send with a university sender address.
