In order to continuously improve study conditions, the University of Siegen is once again funding outstanding projects by teaching staff in 2026. We are looking for creative ideas that have the potential to noticeably advance university teaching. We attach particular importance to innovative, sustainable and student-centered concepts that can ideally also be transferred to other teaching areas. Do you have such a project in mind? Funding objective:
This funding line provides financial resources (quality improvement funds) to support university teaching (analog/digital) at the University of Siegen for a maximum of 12 months for projects to develop, test and evaluate analog and/or digital teaching, learning and/or examination formats.
Funding limit:
The funding limit is a maximum of €20,000/project
Object of funding:
Material resources incl. auxiliary staff (with explicit description of the integration of purchases into the project)
Note on auxiliary staff:
Please state in the application how many hours of auxiliary staff you are planning to use and for which activities they are to be used. You can specify and explain this in the application in the work planning or in the budget or in an additional document of max. 1/2 DIN A4 page

Application formalities:
Complete application documents submitted on time:
- fully completed application outline
- Meaningful timetable
- Meaningful financial plan (use this Excel template exclusively and also attach this Excel file to the electronic application).
- If applicable, informal confirmation from the Vice Dean's Office for Teaching (e.g. for changes to the curriculum or similar)
- If applicable, an additional page with tables, graphs, information on assistant hours/costs, etc.
Only applications in electronic form will be accepted for evaluation!

Prior to the introduction of the "Besser lehren!" funding line, teaching projects were funded under the "Besser innovativ!" and "Besser digital!" funding lines.
The "Besser digital!" funding line was awarded to support digital university teaching at the University of Siegen for six-month pilot projects to develop, test and evaluate digital teaching, learning and/or examination formats. Only members of the competence teams (dime:US project) of Faculties I-V were eligible to apply, while the "Besser innovativ!" funding line was awarded to support innovative university teaching (analog/digital) at the University of Siegen for six-month pilot projects to develop, test and evaluate analog and/or digital teaching, learning and/or examination formats. All teaching staff at the University of Siegen were eligible to apply.
