You should organize the professional internship according to your individual needs.
- For example, you can use it to explore professional fields outside of school in which teachers' fields of activity also play a role (e.g. teaching, education, counseling). This may help you to better understand the specifics of your future tasks as a teacher. You can also think about the extent to which models or basic ideas of this professional field can be transferred to schools.
- The professional internship can also help you to explore professional fields related to the subjects you have studied. You can thus gain an insight into the use of the specialist content of the subjects you have studied outside of school.
- If your previous reflections on your aptitude and career choice have led you to consider a change of degree course, you can use the internship to explore a suitable professional field.
The practical phase of the internship is framed by compulsory university supervision. This supports you in planning, developing an objective, carrying out and reflecting on your practical phase.
The development of an objective or question for your professional internship takes place in the preparatory event. Dr. Iris Bunte(iris.bunte@uni-siegen.de) in Schools II will support you in the thematic orientation of your internship.
Elements of the professional internship at a glance
If you have enrolled in your degree program from winter semester 2021/22 (new regulations from winter semester 2021/22), your professional internship consists of
- continuous portfolio work throughout the internship: portfolio sheets for university preparation and follow-up.
- Attending the information event on the professional internship at the earliest 24 weeks before admission to your preparatory event (approx. 1 hour, registration in unisono, admission directly).
- Attending a preparatory event at the earliest 12 weeks and at the latest 2 weeks before the start of the practical phase (4 hours, group event, registration at least three working days (Mon. to Fri.) before the event date in unisono, admission by the Department of Practical Phases(praxisphasen@zlb.uni-siegen.de)).
- the practical phase in an internship institution (150 hours, at least 20 days in at least 4 weeks, registration in unisono).
- Attendance of a follow-up event at the earliest 2 weeks and at the latest 24 weeks after the end of the practical phase (3 hours, group event, registration at least three working days (Mon. to Fri.) before the event date in unisono, approval by the Department of Practical Phases(praxisphasen@zlb.uni-siegen.de). Note: Participation in the BFP events (information, preparation, follow-up) can be spread flexibly over several semesters. Please note the deadlines mentioned above.
- a study achievement to be completed as part of the university supervision.
- For the individual steps of planning, registration and completion, please use this checklist for the professional field internship including click instructions for unisono registration. You can also use the guidelines for the professional internship
. - Please note: Please plan your BFP early, at least 8 weeks before the practical phase. Please bear in mind that the sequence of information event, preparation event, practical phase and follow-up event must be adhered to for regular internships. There must be at least 14 days between the individual phases. With the exception of the information events, the number of places is limited. You should therefore register for all events in good time and inform yourself about the tasks to be completed. Only registrations or submissions made on time can be considered.
Overview of deadlines
