Overlaps in the teacher training program
Due to its complex structure, the teacher training course poses a particular challenge in terms of study organization. In order to avoid overlaps between courses in different subjects, the subjects with the highest enrolment numbers are coordinated using a time slot model (ZFM). The ZFM provides fixed times for each of these subjects in which the courses are planned. The respective course schedules, as defined in the subject-specific regulations or the subject examination regulations, are decisive for the planning of the subjects. Subjects that are not coordinated centrally via the ZFM are required to avoid subject and faculty-internal overlaps in their planning.
Notification of overlaps
In the event of an overlap, please first check whether you can switch to a parallel course, i.e. an alternative course for the module element concerned or another group. If this is not the case, please complete the overlap form (ÜFo). We will then contact you as soon as possible to find a solution for you.
Please note the following information:
- Please complete the overlap form even if you know that the overlap in question has already been reported by other students. This is important in order to record how many students are affected.
- Please remember to report overlaps as early as possible.
- The information requested in the overlap form (mandatory fields) is necessary in order to be able to process the respective overlap cases quickly and easily.

Support and advice
The Temporal Coordination Office is always available to answer your questions about study planning, especially if your personal study biography deviates from the recommended standard study plans.
As the time slot model can only guarantee overlap-free coordination within the standard course of study, individual study biographies (e.g. due to a change of university, subject or type of school or other factors) often pose particular challenges. In these cases, we will advise you on your options, if necessary in cooperation with the subjects.
Regardless of overlaps, we will also support you with all questions regarding course allocation. Please contact us if you have any problems with enrolments and admissions or if you have any other questions about the organization of your studies.
