Activate ZIMT account
On this page you can find out how to unlock your ZIMT account or change your ZIMT password via unisono.
What is a ZIMT account?
When you enrol at the University of Siegen, you will be given access to unisono as well as the so-called ZIMT account.
The ZIMT account is not to be confused with the unisono account! You can use unisono to register for events and examinations, for example.
Your ZIMT account is your access to ZIMT services:
- university e-mail inbox °
- eduroam (WLAN)
- VPN
- Moodle
It consists of a user ID (a so-called g-number) and a password that you assign yourself.
The activation of the ZIMT account and the university e-mail account is absolutely necessary, as official e-mails from the university (e.g. from the student secretariat, lecturers, etc.) are sent to the student e-mail address.
Activate ZIMT account and change password
Even if both systems are independent of each other, the ZIMT account is initially activated via unisono:
- To activate your ZIMT account, log in to unisono (link below).
(You can access your unisono account via your matriculation number and a password you have assigned). - Then select the tab"Student life" and then the item"ZIMT account".
- Click on the link to be redirected to activate your account.
You can also change your password this way if you have forgotten it. - Once you have successfully registered, you will be redirected to a page where your user ID and e-mail address will be displayed. Memorize them well or write them down, as the user ID is required to log in for all ZIMT services.

As a student, you also have the option of using software licenses such as Microsoft Office or Webex via the UniSIM user account management system:
Further services
The access data for the ZIMT account is also required to use the University Library's catalogs.
Important: Although you log in with the user data of the ZIMT account, the library account is managed by the University Library and is not the same as the ZIMT account. The ZIMT account is only used here for authentication purposes.
