After thrilling the Siegen audience during its first performance in 2020 with, among other things, an energetic interpretation of Beethoven’s F-minor Quartet, the Marmen Quartet is now returning to Siegen for the second time. Once again, they’ll kick things off with high-octane pieces—György Ligeti’s “Métamorphoses nocturnes” and “Fight – Union – Clinch” by Swedish composer Benjamin Staern, before moving on to the second half of the concert, where they will evoke a sense of security with Caroline Shaw’s “Schisma” and late-Romantic dreaminess with Claude Debussy’s String Quartet. After winning competitions in Banff and Bordeaux, the quartet enjoyed a meteoric rise that quickly took them to major concert halls across Europe and North America, where they have since established themselves as one of the outstanding emerging ensembles.
