Innovation lab

The Innovation Lab (Innolab) in room AR-Z 008 of the Center for Information and Media Technology (ZIMT) at the University of Siegen offers a versatile environment for exploring and using innovative technologies, such as virtual reality.

The lab is designed to familiarize students and employees of the University of Siegen with the latest developments in media technology and media production. It plays a central role in supporting courses and digital teaching by providing modern technologies and promoting their integration into teaching and learning processes. By using advanced media and IT solutions, the innovation lab helps to improve the quality of digital teaching and develop innovative teaching methods.

In addition, workshops on various ZIMT media and IT topics are held regularly in the innovation lab.

The Innovation Lab is open to all interested members of the University of Siegen. Dates for the workshops and training courses will be published here shortly. For further information and service requests, please contact the ZIMT.

Italian

Our Italian courses help you better understand the country, its culture, and everyday life—from Italian movies and music to food, fashion, and university life in Italy. In our courses, you’ll practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a practical way and can put what you’ve learned to the test right away—whether you’re traveling, studying, or interacting with Italian students.

Japanese

The Language Center offers Japanese courses at various proficiency levels (e.g., A1–B1). The courses teach basic spoken and written language skills and prepare students for further study. The courses are aligned with the international proficiency levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Jupyterhub

JupyterHub is a platform that allows multiple users to centrally access and run Jupyter Notebooks.

Key Competencies

Communication is a key skill that is naturally an integral part of the Language Center’s language courses. Intercultural competence, giving presentations and conducting conversations in (foreign) languages, written communication in various situational contexts, and much more are all part of the action-oriented acquisition of a language.

In addition, the Language Center also offers courses on specific aspects of communication that are open to students from all Schools and can be used as additional qualifications, as part of the required-elective curriculum, or as components of certificates.

Language Café

At the language café, participants not only play games together but also engage in conversations about personal topics, culture, or regional studies, with the language café team facilitating and providing support.

Language Learning Tandem

Tandem language learning is a form of autonomous and intercultural learning. Language learning tandems offer the opportunity to improve foreign language skills in a targeted way through interaction with native speakers, while also gaining intercultural insights. In addition, you can choose your own topics within your area of interest and focus on developing specific skills.
