After thrilling the Siegen audience during its first performance in 2020 with, among other things, an energetic interpretation of Beethoven’s F-minor Quartet, the Marmen Quartet is now returning to Siegen for the second time. Once again, they’ll be bringing highly explosive pieces to the stage with György Ligeti’s “Métamorphoses nocturnes” and “Fight – Union – Clinch” by Swedish composer Benjamin Staern, before moving on to the second half of the concert, where they will evoke a sense of security with Caroline Shaw’s “Schisma” and late-Romantic dreaminess with Claude Debussy’s String Quartet. After winning competitions in Banff and Bordeaux, the quartet enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame that quickly took them to major concert halls across Europe and North America, where they have since established themselves as one of the outstanding emerging ensembles.
