Diversity

Shaping a Humane Future - Preserving Diversity

The University of Siegen sees the diversity of its members as a basis, potential and opportunity for scientific progress. It promotes a university culture of appreciation, openness and mutual respect in which all its members can develop and contribute their individual skills and talents. The university sees it as its task to contribute to fair working and study conditions that allow all students, employees and academics to develop in the best possible way, free from discrimination of any kind and to assume their responsibilities in the world of work, family and society. All members of the university should be supported in actively contributing to a university that is more accessible and less discriminatory, thus furthering the fulfillment of structural equality of opportunity.

The Commission for Diversity Policies has the task of working towards the implementation of (structural) equal opportunities in all areas of the university and the elimination of disadvantage and discrimination (e.g. due to social origin, ethnicity, physical or mental abilities, age, religious affiliation, sexual orientation/identity, etc.) - also preventively - and advocates the appreciative recognition of diversity of all members of the university.
