Practical theology and religious education
We research religious education in its various forms, be it in religious education classes or in extracurricular places of learning such as churches, synagogues and mosques. We want to better understand the dynamics and processes of religious teaching and learning under contemporary conditions. To this end, we use empirical methods such as questionnaires and experiments as well as interviews and group discussions. In this way, we test religious education theories in practice and develop them further based on the results of this practice.
In addition to research, we prepare our students for religious education. To this end, we familiarize them with current religious education theory and encourage them to independently deal with specific scenarios of this teaching (such as Bible didactics, church space pedagogy or interreligious learning)
