WE introduce ourselves
are more than 150 academics and over 3,000 students in the subjects of Business Administration, Economics, Business Law and Business Information Systems. We research, teach and learn in the fields of digitalization, sustainability and quality of life. We train the next generation of economists and lawyers for the region, Germany and Europe.
WE are international
Students and academics from over 40 countries teach, research and learn at the Faculty. In addition to the German-language Bachelor's degree courses(Business Administration, Economics, Business Information Systems, Business Law), our range of courses is characterized by a wide range of international English-language Master's degree courses such as "Economic Policy" or "Human Computer Interaction" as well as mixed German and English-language Master's degree courses(Entrepreneurship and SME Management, Management and Markets and many more). Exchange programs with partner universities in more than 20 countries enable international mobility for students and teaching staff. The Faculty actively participates in the European ATHENA University Network, an association of universities from ten European countries.
Research
"WE are strong in research, which can be seen, for example, in our third-party funding balance sheet but also in the ranking of our researchers. Our research is diverse and up-to-date. Our research ranges from DFG basic research to applied research (e.g. funded by the BMBF) and research transfer for practical application. Each researcher sets their own individual priorities. At the same time, however, there are two main areas of research: the effects and design of digitalization and sustainability. WE are an interdisciplinary Faculty and therefore also promote interdisciplinary research. WE discover and promote academic talent. WE live the unity of research and teaching.
Our campus at the Lower Castle
By far the largest part of our Faculty III is located in the middle of the city on the "Unteres Schloss" campus. This campus includes a former castle, a brand new lecture hall building and several buildings in the vicinity of this castle. And right in the middle is the new canteen, also known as the "food court". This means that our everyday life takes place "in the middle of life" and enjoys a high quality of life."

Studying and teaching at Faculty III
Here you will find the most important information for your studies
more
Getting a taste of the conference air, experiencing luminaries live, networking, gaining inspiration and ideas for future career opportunities - with a special form of support for young talent, we want to ensure that our students can already gain these special experiences during their studies.
To make this possible, the School of Economic Disciplines, Business Information Systems and Business Law at the University of Siegen promotes the participation of Master's students in specialist conferences. In this way, the Schools aims to arouse students' interest in research at an early stage and motivate them to pursue a doctorate at the Schools. The program is therefore aimed in particular at students who have not yet had any contact with research. Participation in a symposium offers a good opportunity to get to know research practice and the scientific community of one's own subject and to gain initial insights into research operations.
The Schools provides a maximum of EUR 2,500 in funding per semester. The funding only covers the reimbursement of the participation fee for a specialist conference of up to EUR 250. Travel expenses are not covered.
All students who are completing a Master's degree at Schools III and are not employed as a WHB in a research project at the university or an external institution through which they can receive funding for participation in symposia at the time of application are eligible to apply.
Important to know:
1. The selected symposium must be on the list of proposals of the specialist groups (see below). Non-listed conferences can also be funded in individual cases, but this requires the approval of a university lecturer in the relevant subject.
2. The funding can only be granted once per person within the Master's degree program.
3The funding can be applied for for one semester until the end of the previous semester, i.e. for the winter semester until 30.09. and for the summer semester until 31.03.
The measure begins in the winter semester 2025/26. Funds not used will be accumulated and will be available in the following semester. To apply, please use the PDF form available on the website.
The funding is initially intended for 2 years with a total volume of EUR 10,000. Afterwards, an evaluation of the funding measure is planned.
All specialist conferences that are approved by a university lecturer in the relevant subject are funded.

The digitalization of the economy and society is a key focus of our research. But life and work in the Faculty is also digitally shaped.
